CU Mehrweg is a young start-up that specializes in reducing packaging waste when buying food. Our aim is to offer a sustainable alternative to disposable packaging and thus make a positive contribution to the environment.

Packaging does not have to undergo any complex recycling processes, where only a small proportion is actually recycled. Instead, they are cleaned and refilled directly after being returned. In this way, we keep our resources in circulation and protect the environment.

You can return the containers wherever you can buy products in CU boxes. You can find a list of participating markets here. You can return the CU-Boxes to standard reverse vending machines for drinks.

The CU boxes are returned to the vending machine, where returnable bottles (e.g. glass or hard plastic bottles) are also returned. In contrast to disposable bottles (25 cent deposit), which are crushed behind the machine, the CU boxes and returnable bottles end up on a sorting table. There they are sorted into different boxes before being collected and cleaned.

No, you don't have to rinse the containers at home. After being returned, the CU boxes undergo a professional cleaning process. Please do not use the containers at home for other food or items, as they must be disposed of if they are very dirty.

You should remove the sealing film and dispose of it in the yellow garbage can. Make sure that no residue of the sealing film remains on the CU box.

Please always return the CU boxes with the lid on. The lid is also cleaned and reused, so it is important that it is returned together with the box.
